This summer flew by quickly. Sometimes It was too hot to be outside in the scorching sun during the afternoon, but it was wonderful to be busy indoors. We have been hearing such great stories from our guests, which gives us so much positive energy and a good vibe to start and end each day. 

At the beginning of August, we started renting out our camper, and it’s been great to discover that there is a high demand for it. There are people who are interested in exploring Slovenia with our camper, discovering this beautiful country. Slovenia is the perfect country for it – small, with well-maintained roads, lots of nature, not too crowded, and beautiful country roads, sometimes even gravel ones, which are a lot of fun to explore with a camper.

It’s our own camper, built by Gertjan and transformed into a little house on wheels with the finishing touches in colors done by me. We have traveled through Europe with this camper, ended up in Slovenia twice, and saw the house where we now live. For the past four years, our camper has been collecting dust in the garage, and it’s time to move forward. We want to follow our hearts, do multiple things, make people happy, and turn our hobbies into a small business that also earns us some money to ensure we can continue living here. The B&B is doing well, and we have many families with young children coming. Every morning, when there are new children, I make pancakes, and when I serve breakfast for the first time to new guests, I see happy faces and cheers from the children. Yes, this gives me a good vibe, and I can start my day with a sense of fulfillment. And then in the evening, I also get to cook dinner, which is always a joy for me because I love cooking and baking!

This summer, we have had plenty of vegetables from our own garden, and it’s been amazing to experiment with them. Of course, I first ask people what they want to eat with the limited choice from my garden, but sometimes I get to unleash my creativity in the kitchen and cook exactly how I want. And those are the best guests who say, “I trust you completely, make something delicious.” 👌

We have already heard two great stories from people who rented our camper. It’s incredibly inspiring for us, and it has made us crave that feeling of freedom again. This week, at the end of August, we took a few days off to enjoy the beautiful nature of Slovenia. We brought our skottelbraai (a type of portable grill) and relaxed outside. Mika, our dog, was thrilled to use her nose to explore the nature, smelling flowers and the scents of animals in the woods. It’s so wonderful to relax and wake up in the morning with nothing to do… Now, you might think we are very busy, but fortunately, that’s not the case. We live by the rhythm of the day, waking up when we want and eating when we’re hungry… except, of course, when we have guests in the B&B. Then I have to pay attention to the time in the morning when people want to have breakfast, but it has its charm.
